A 16-year-old boy, who was armed with an axe, has been charged with numerous offences including the burglary of Ashey Road Garage near Ryde and Prices Garage in Newport.
The teen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court today (Tuesday) charged with 8 different offences including:
• 2x Burglary (Ashey Road Garage and Prices Garage)
• Possession of a Class B controlled drug (cannabis)
• Possession of an offensive weapon, namely an axe
• Driving without a licence
• Driving without third party insurance
• Assaulting an emergency worker, namely a detention officer
• Theft from a motor vehicle
As previously reported by Island Echo, a teen was arrested yesterday morning (Monday) when officers were called to reports of a burglary in progress on Ashey Road at just before 07:00.
The 16-year-old – who moved to the Island from the mainland – will now appear before the Isle of Wight Youth Court on Wednesday.
