12-YEAR-OLD ISLE OF WIGHT SPEEDWAY RIDER JACK APPEALS FOR SPONSORSHIP

12-year-old Ryde Academy student Jack Scully-Syer has written to Island Echo for help in finding sponsorship so that he can progress further in the sport of speedway racing.

Jack has been riding speedway bikes since he was just 7-years-old. He is now looking for sponsors so that he can purchase a Kevlar riding suit. He also needs funding to help pay fuel and maintenance costs and the expense of travelling to the mainland.

Jack hopes to compete in the Youth Championships. Any business willing to sponsor Jack would have their name on Jack’s riding suit in any competitions he enters.

Jack says:

“I just love Speedway and everything to do with it

“I have been riding Speedway Bikes since I was 7 years old and over the years I have progressed. I am now on a 125cc Speedway Bike, and I absolutely love it. It has not been easy, and I have come off numerous times, with lots of bruises and scrapes and have bent parts of my bike. I ride as regularly as I can at Smallbrook Stadium and, during the Speedway season, I will have races there. This makes my Mum very nervous, but me very excited.

“I ride regularly. I would really like to get myself a Kevlar. I currently wear a kit designed more for motocross; however, these are quite expensive. I currently save as much of my pocket money, birthday money, and Christmas money as I can and have used this to buy my current kit and my bike covers. I also do lots of jobs around the house to help earn extra money to go towards paying for my practice nights

“I am now hoping to find myself some sponsors, which would help me lots, as I would be able to get my new Kevlar and then have the sponsors names on it. I would be able to use any sponsorship to help with the costs of my bike, as I’m always needing to change little bits and buy fuel. Also, it would help with the cost of my practice nights and the costs of travelling on to the mainland to practice.

“I would be really grateful with any sponsorship as it just means I can carry on doing what I love, and Mum says it’s far better than being inside on an Xbox, even though I frighten her now I go even faster!”
