A yellow weather warning for heavy rain across the Isle of Wight has been issued by IW Met Service, with downpours expected from late tonight (Sunday) through into Monday.
The warning is valid from 23:00 tonight until 13:00 on Monday afternoon, covering a 14-hour period of potentially torrential and slow-moving showers moving in from the English Channel.
Forecasters say there is a chance of thunder in the heaviest downpours.
The initial band of showers is expected to ease around dawn before redeveloping again through Monday morning and into the early part of the afternoon.
Some parts of the Isle of Wight may escape with relatively small rainfall totals, but others could see as much as 30-40mm falling in a short period.
IW Met Service notes there is still some uncertainty over the path of the heaviest rainfall. There remains a significant possibility that the worst of the downpours may instead track slightly east of the Isle of Wight.
I’m sure this weather warning will be just as accurate as the one for last Friday…
All this rain and then along comes the hosepipe ban.
well that didn’t happen then….
