UPDATED: Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat have launched to assist a 10m pleasure craft off The Needles tonight (Saturday).
The volunteer lifeboat crew were tasked to launch at 21:02 after the vessel ‘No Three’ reported difficulties to Solent Coastguard.
The casualty boat set off from Hamble at 13:30 this afternoon before heading clockwise around the Island. Unfortunately, the vessel lost power at 20:30 around half a mile south of The Needles.
Yarmouth RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat is currently on scene and is expected to tow the pleasure craft to Yarmouth Harbour.
UPDATE @ 23:10 – The stricken vessel – which lost steerage – has been successfully towed to Yarmouth Harbour by the town’s RNLI All Weather Lifeboat.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team have met with the father and son crew to issue safety advice.
No injuries have been reported.
