As previously reported by Island Echo, Yarbridge Cross in Brading was closed last night (Monday) due to a ruptured gas main on the busy junction.
New Road from its junction with Marshcombe Shute for a distance of 57mtrs; Marshcombe Shute from its junction with Morton Road for approx 57mtrs; Morton Road from its jnc with Hornsey Rise for approx 57mtrs; Hornsey Rise from its jnc with New Road for approx 57mtrs has all been closed.
The closure is to enable SGN to carry out emergency repairs to major gas escape.
The diversion will be signposted locally.
Diversion route(s) will be signed at the time of closure. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.
From 10:15 hours on 8th February 2021, for a maximum period of twenty-one days or until the works are complete, whichever is sooner.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY @ 19:30 – Yarbridge Cross has been reopened in 3 directions, under temporary traffic lights.
Motorists can now travel between Sandown, Ryde and Bembridge. However, heading to and from Brading Downs you will still have to divert for the time being.
