Forget Paris, Venice, London or Milan – it was all happening at Monkton Arts Centre in Ryde on Saturday (14th March).

For 6 months a dynamic group of volunteers met weekly to upcycle donated clothes to be sold including suits, dinner jackets, ties and dresses – all creatively restyled into one-off designer outfits.

Jazzy buttons, embroidery and patches were added to jackets, whilst denim jeans were refashioned into waistcoats.

This was no ordinary fashion show… the theme and music was designed around the style of the outfits including posh punk, graffiti, Downtown Abbey, romance, vintage Hollywood, hippy, biker guys and science fiction.

The finale was a Japanese kimono modelled by Frances who walked to The Humming Song from Madam Butterfly.

Over the last 6 months, nearly £1,000 has been raised and the additional upcycled garments will still be on sale for another 2 weeks at the Lounge, Monkton Arts Centre, East Street, Ryde -from 10:00-17:00 Monday-Saturday.
