Police have been alerted to a suspicious incident in East Cowes in which a teenage boy was approached by an unknown man asking ‘would you like any sweets’.
The boy was approached on Beatrice Avenue near to Queensgate Primary School at around 16:00 yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).
Although no crime has been identified, Hampshire Constabulary say they have received a report of a suspicious incident.
The man is described as being in his 60s and is said to have been driving a silver Citroen car.
Police are encouraging Islanders to report any such activity to them on 101.

I was born 1959 and right through my childhood during the sixties, we kids were always told not too except anything from strangers, so I’m sure this person should have the sense not to behave in this way given his age.
He is walking into a retirement in prison if he is found to be a suspected child abuser, I hope for his sake he is the opposite…
someone in their 60’s doesn’t just decide to take this kind of step on a whim. This individual will either have a long history of inappropriate behaviour to children and well know to the police, or just hasn’t been caught before.
This pervert didn’t just wake up and think that he would go out and offer kids sweets – this is a deviant with a history of it and I bet the police have a rough idea who it is.
Do you know him then? If you do, let the police know…
no clare, I do not know him – however, there is enough case history and study of people and this type of behaviour available online, which indicates that this sort of conduct, is not an impulse out of nowhere – they build up to it through lower level offending and unless stopped, continue offending for years and years.
Judging by the number of comments posted on this subject, and knowing the number plate, it’s time to call the police…
I have his number plate
Agreed – it probably began with watching, then saying hello and so forth.
someone using the pseudonym i use, I see.
I was chased by him and I got his number plate
Did you give the number plate to the police????
Zack, do you really think that’s funny, that’s a sick comment under the circumstances. Grow up and shut up.
To many evil people staying on island after getting realised from prison
The man describing this description I’m pretty sure works in the premier in east cowes and came across abit too friendly and made weird comments .
Do you have any idea how dangerous it is making comments like this? One thing leads to another very quickly these days. If you have any information or suspicions, then tell them to the police, rather than writing them on forums like this!
I have his number plate

anyone remember skimbo wight
Have you given the plate number to the police???
So does Meghan
