2-time world rally champion Miki Biasion will be taking part in the Island Car Centre Sandown Sprint on Sunday 29th March 2020.
Chichester-based Rally Replay will be supplying an exact replica of Biasion’s 1989 Sanremo winning Lancia Delta Integrale, which was built by Biasion himself to celebrate his second World Championship.
Biasion has partnered with Rally Replay to assist with the sourcing, restoration and sales of former ex-works rally cars. In particular, those with a stellar history within the World Rally Championship. The focus of this new partnership will be on the Lancia cars.
Event promoter Tim Addison has said:
“It was a great surprise to learn that a double World Champion would be coming to the Sprint. Our title sponsor, Will Nicholls was approached by Rally Replay and we’re grateful to them for making this happen. It will be quite a thrill for all the competitors to have a rally legend on the same track.”
With just 4 weeks to go until the race weekend, organisers are pleased with progress. Track construction will be led by Island-based John Peck Construction and many other local businesses have also contributed towards the weekend.
Race fans wanting to come along to see Miki, who will be competing on Sunday 29th March only, will need to purchase a ticket online.
Spectators are being advised that entry tickets are unlikely to be available on the day due to the limited capacity approved for the first year. Day tickets cost just £5 in advance and can be purchased from the event website www.isleofwightspeedtrials.co.uk.
Island Echo reported yesterday on the bumper entry for this year’s inaugural event.
Organisers are also looking for a team of volunteers to help marshall the event over the weekend. Anyone interested in being involved is encouraged to find out more information and register to
volunteer on the website.
