The confirmed entry list for the inaugural Isle of Wight Speed Trials event at Culver Parade has now been published, revealing that a total of 100 entrants will take part in the 2-day event on 28th & 29th March 2020.
Spectators can expect to see a wide variety of vehicles – both new and old – going against the clock on the 750m track, which will feature 2 chicanes together with challenging fast corners and hairpin bends. The entry list includes 2 Subaru World Rally Cars, a Ferrari 488GTB, a Radical SR1 and even a Ford Model T from 1923. Classics such as MG BGTs, Austin Healey Sprites and a Renault 5 Turbo 2 will also take to the start line, plus many more.
A number of local competitors will be taking part in the event alongside those from further afield, including a large number of members from Farnborough District Motor Club. The full entry list can be found at https://isleofwightspeedtrials.co.uk/competitors/.
The Sandown Sprint will be the opening round of the Association of Central Southern Motor Clubs’ Speed Championship. It’s almost unheard of for a brand new venue to be included into an established race series, so this is both an honour and a great boost for this first Isle of Wight event.
Tickets for spectators are limited in this first year and sales have been brisk. More than half of all the tickets available have now been sold.
Adult admission costs just £5 per day and accompanied children are admitted free of charge. For full details, terms and conditions and to book tickets visit www.isleofwightspeedtrials.co.uk or call the box office on 01983 510020.
Organisers are also looking for a team of volunteers to help marshall the event over the weekend. Anyone interested in being involved is encouraged to find out more information and register to
volunteer on the website.
