Roadworks at the Cascades in Ventnor should disappear within the next few weeks following last month’s torrential weather which caused significant damage.
Shore Hill has been under temporary traffic lights since the start of August with Southern Water working to repair a collapsed sewer.
A staggering amount of water overwhelmed drainage systems on 2nd August with the extreme pressure lifting road surfaces. Some 30mm of rain fell on the East Wight that morning, causing flash flooding.
The work to repair the sewer pipe has now been completed but the reinstatement of the carriageway is not expected to begin until 20th September.
Southern Water says that it is doing all it can to get the road reopened as soon as possible and they apologise for the inconvenience caused.
And when they have finish can they please do Alpine Rd it’s one of the worst roads on the island
