WORKERS STRIKE IN PENSION ROW

A picket lined was formed outside HMP Isle of Wight this morning in a row against proposed pension cuts.

Staff have taken camp outside the Albany wing to express their anger at the cuts which would mean they would have to work for longer but receive less when they finally retire.

A number of meetings have taken place outside the Prison today by officers wishing to support the walkouts, however it is illegal for them to strike.

Nationwide up to 400,000 workers have gone on strike in a variety of public sectors.
