UPDATED: Firefighters from Newport and Ventnor are attending a wood pile fire at a farm in Niton this evening (Thursday).
Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and a water bowser are in attendance at Moorhill Farm on Niton Road, where it is reported a wood pile is alight.
Island Echo understands the farm is utilised as a wood yard by Clifford J Matthews Ltd.
All three crews have been sent to the scene to ensure adequate water supply due to the remote location.
It is anticipated firefighters will remain on scene for several hours.
UPDATE @ 21:25 – Two pumping appliances and the water carrier remain in attendance at the wood yard tonight.
A fan spray is in operation to damp down the wood pile, however the fire has been contained.
