An inquest into the death of a 59-year-old woman who ‘fell’ from a cliff in Lake was opened at the Isle of Wight Coroners Court today (Friday).
Retail assistant Lavinia Jane Partridge, originally from Kensington and Chelsea, was discovered at the foot of the cliff on the Sandown to Shanklin revetment on 20th November as first reported by Island Echo.
The court heard that Police were called to the scene, near Fins Beach Café, at around 09:00 after they received reports that a woman had ‘jumped’ from the cliff above.
Those first on scene attempted to perform CPR , but Ms Partridge, who was living in Sandown, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following a post-mortem examination carried out at St Mary’s Hospital, Dr Adnan Al-Badri gave a cause of death of multiple injuries.
His Majesty’s Senior Coroner for the Isle of Wight, Caroline Sumeray, provisionally adjourned the inquest until 4th June 2026.
Condolences were passed on to Ms Partridge’s family.
