Police have cordoned off part of the revetment and cliff top path between Sandown and Shanklin in response to a serious incident in The Bay this morning (Thursday).
Emergency services are currently on scene around a third of the way between the two towns as they respond to an incident involving an individual.
It was just gone 09:00 that a 999 call was first made, which prompted a significant response from both Police and paramedics.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has deployed 2 ambulances, a critical care paramedic and an operational commander to Sandown.
The incident has occurred next to Fin’s beach cafe with cordons in place either side.
Furthermore, a cordon is in place at Battery Gardens on the cliff top.
UPDATE FRIDAY – Police have confirmed that a woman in her 50s has died.
