Emergency services are tending to a woman who is medically trapped after rolling her vehicle onto its roof in Apse Heath this lunchtime (Wednesday).
The single vehicle crash has occurred on Ventnor Road, between the junctions of Princelett Shute and Apse Manor Road.
The Peugeot – travelling towards Apse Heath from Whiteley Bank at around 13:10 – is understood to have mounted the grass verge whilst avoiding a van, before rolling over.
Island Echo understands members of the public put the vehicle back onto all 4 wheels prior to the arrival of Police and fire crews.
Firefighters are now tending to the female driver and are awaiting the arrival of paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to further assess her condition – and the best course of action.
Island Roads is on scene clearing glass and other debris from the carriageway.
Motorists are able to divert around the scene locally.
UPDATE – The scene has now been cleared.
The elderly woman sustained minor injuries.

There are more rolls on island roads than in
Grace Bakeries
Slow down F.F.S, then you won’t roll.
More bad driving on the Iow
Another one?
Warnings were given. Conditions were ignored. Natural selection prevailed
How?
Luckily only minor injuries. Putting the car back on its wheels before emergency services arrive is NOT a good idea…. could have made any existing injuries much worse
was thinking exactly the same myself…
nice of people to help, but could have left them liable for any injuries caused, by doing so.
This is why dash cameras are essential these days. It probably has video of the van that caused the accident
Yep more shit not concentrating speed / phone driving..
