A woman in her 20s is being treated at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport after being pulled from the Solent by the crew of Yarmouth RNLI earlier this morning (Wednesday).
The volunteer lifeboat crew were tasked to launch at just before 06:20 following reports to Solent Coastguard of a female in the water.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service rendezvoused with the lifeboat at Yarmouth Harbour before transferring the casualty to St Mary’s.
It is thought the young woman is being treated for the effects of hypothermia having spent well over an hour in the water.
