A 59-year-old woman has been charged with drink driving after a car crashed into a building in Sandown last night (Saturday).
Police were called to the scene on Wilkes Road off the High Street at shortly before 19:30 when a silver Mazda MX5 mounted the pavement and collided into the front of a residential property.
Luckily, the sporty convertible did not plough into the building at speed meaning both the driver and occupant of the property escaped injury.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 59-year-old woman has been charged with drink driving – driving whilst over the prescribed limit (which is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 milliliters of breath).
The unnamed woman is due to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court at a later date.
