8-year-old Oliver Davies from Buckingham had a day to remember when his family travelled from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight with Wightlink Ferries for their holidays.
Mum Rahana Raffell tipped off the company that Oliver was a big fan of the fleet and staff arranged for them to visit the Bridge and meet Captain Will Smith. There was an extra treat when the Captain presented Oliver with a Red Ensign flag previously flown from one of the ferries.
Rahana explained:
“The weather was perfect and we enjoyed wonderful views of the Solent from St Faith. We had never sailed on this ship before and Oliver was keen to travel on all of them. We love visiting the Isle of Wight and the ferry journey is always a highlight.”
Oliver adds:
“It was a pleasure to be on the Bridge of St Faith and great to meet Captain Will Smith. I learned some new facts and I am very happy with my flag.”
Captain Will said:
“I enjoyed meeting Oliver and his parents Rahana and Paul. He is already an expert on what we do at Wightlink and I wouldn’t be surprised if he chooses a maritime career.”
