Wight Building Materials (WBM) has handed over a £530 cheque to Wessex Cancer Trust.
The money was raised through a staff Christmas raffle held in memory of former WBM sales manager Dave Crouch, who died of pancreatic cancer last year at the age of just 56.
The company is, in the coming year, looking to continue fundraising for cancer charities as a legacy to Dave who was an extremely popular member of the WBM team.
Steve Burton, Wight Building Material’s General Manager, says:
“The Christmas raffle was a very good start and we’d like to thank all those who offered prizes and who supported the event by buying tickets”.
WBM will be looking to make the raffle an annual event and is currently progressing plans for its annual golf day at Newport Golf Club – created from a site formerly quarried by the company – which will also be held in memory of Dave.
Steve added:
“Dave’s passing touched us all a great deal and we are determined to keep his memory alive though ongoing activities that support cancer-related charities.”

Lorraine White, Wessex Cancer Trust’s regional fundraising manager, said:
“We are so grateful to the team at WBM for all their efforts and look forward to teaming up for a golf day this summer. Community is at the heart of all we do at Wessex Cancer Trust and donations like this mean we will continue to be there for Island families – like Dave’s – when they need us most.”
