
Here are the latest results from last week’s action in the Isle of Wight Table Tennis Winter League.
Division 1
Match of the week was between Havenstreet A and Shanklin Skuas, with Shanklin’s Graham Evans player of the match and undefeated, whilst teammate Tom Waddell had his best match of the season, winning 2 singles and the doubles along with Evans. Havenstreet’s Keith Baker won 2, but the match ultimately ended 6-4 to Shanklin.
Ryde B made short work of Newport Vics A, with Hugh Idle and Conal Howells unbeaten on the night, whilst Ricky Lock won 2. Only Newport’s Dave Hilliam managed a singles win, plus was successful in the doubles along with Anna Joyce. The match ended 8-2 to Ryde B and they move up to 3rd in the table behind the Ryde A and C teams.
Ryde D met Havenstreet B, and with Ryde’s juniors Ryan Cates and Lewis Johnstone on top form, along with Lewis’s dad Martin, the match finished in a whitewash for Ryde 10-0.

Division 2
Match of the week in Division 2 was between Ryde Rockets and Ryde Rangers. The Ranger’s Alan Dennis and Alan Burch both won 2 each, whilst junior player Zak Holbrook had 3 close matches, and was successful against the Rocket’s John Linington, winning in 5 sets on deuce. With a cliff hanger doubles between Holbrook and Burch and the Rocket’s Trevor Percival and Paul Harper to end the evening, the match ultimately ended 6-4 to the Rangers.

Division 3
Shorwell Saints beat Ryde Rhinos 7-3 to climb to 4th in the table, with Shorwell’s Kevin Williams player of the match and undefeated, whilst the Rhino’s Albert Lee was on form with 2 wins.
