This is your guide to when and where you can view the Isle of Wight stage of the Tour of Britain between Bembridge and Downend – including Sandown – on Sunday 11th September.
The tour of Britain will pass Pilot Boat Inn Bembridge at 11:21. The competitors then continue along the High Street before turning into Mill Road Hillway Road, and Sandown Road. Theythen turn left at Yaverland Road.
The 1st sprint will take place on Culver Parade at around 11:36. The competitors will then turn right at Sandown Library before cycling up Avenue Road towards Brading. The cyclists then turn left at Yarbridge Crossroads before making a strenuous King of the Mountains climb up Brading Down. The cyclists are expected to reach the pinnacle of the down at around 11:42.
The tour continues along the Downs Road, turning right at the Hare and Hounds to make the rapid descent to Merstone.
Where are the best vantage points to see the Tour of Britain in Bembridge, Sandown and the Downs?
The best spot to see the tour around Bembridge is at the Embankment at around 11:20. The highlight of the tour’s progress through Sandown is the sprint at Culver Parade at 11:36.
The best place to watch the tour’s progress across the downs is the King of the Mountains climb at Brading Down at around 11:40. Fortunately, there are many viewpoint car parks along Brading Down Road.
Timings may vary depending on race pace. Spectators should allow plenty of time to travel and park.
