Just weeks after launching its first-ever Dragon Boat Race, Wessex Cancer Support is celebrating a huge wave of support with all team spaces for the event now officially sold out.
Sponsored by Rouse, WH Brading, and Biscoes Solicitors, the fundraiser, which takes place at Island Harbour on Saturday 30th August, will see teams of 11 go head-to-head in a series of fast-paced races, competing for glory (and the ultimate 1st place trophy) in the grand final.
The event has captured the imagination of local businesses and community groups, with all spaces snapped up in under 3 weeks.
Laura Haytack, Fundraising Manager for Wessex Cancer Support on the Isle of Wight, says:
“We’ve been blown away by the response.
“We knew dragon boat racing would bring something special to the Island, but we didn’t expect it to sell out this quickly! It’s shaping up to be a truly unforgettable day, and we’re so grateful to everyone who’s got behind it.”
The charity is now exploring the possibility of opening a limited number of extra team spaces to meet demand.
