Mountbatten needs around 100 volunteers to ensure Sunday’s Walk the Wight can go ahead.
Various roles need to be filled, primarily route and traffic marshals and support to help with on-the-day registrations, manning water and toilet points.
Nigel Hartley, CEO of Mountbatten, says:
“This has been a year like no other and due to many reasons – largely related to Covid – we have not been able to recruit the number of volunteers we need.
“I cannot emphasise enough how important Walk the Wight is to us and we desperately do not want to cancel it.
“If you can help us on Sunday, we would be incredibly grateful.”
To help keep logistics simpler, Mountbatten is ideally looking for people to commit to 6-hour shifts, placed in various locations across the Island. All volunteers will be asked to take a lateral flow test on Saturday night but they only need to inform Mountbatten if it returns positive.

Date for this event was set March 1st 2021 so bit late to ask for volunteers. Forward planning springs to mind
