The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) have recognised the long service and dedication of a number of the volunteer crew at Freshwater Independent Lifeboat.
Tim Griffin, the Island’s RLSS representative, visited Freshwater recently to present the awards.
Rod Adams was awarded for 8 years service in his vital role as Principle Fundraiser.
D-Class helm Richard Barton-Wood was recognised for his 4 years service.
Alan Sheward, the lifeboat station’s Honourable Secretary, has completed 5 years. He was unable to attend the presentation.
A spokesperson for the independent station has said:
“We are immensely proud of all our crew and volunteers who work so hard to keep the service running, and who put their own lives at risk to save those in need”.

Well done heroes
A most splendid record of gallantry. Plucking the unfortunate mariners from the tempestuous briny.
But please any dingy or small craft filled to the max, please take the occupants back to France as we are now full up here, and wish to have some green fields left on which to grow our own food.
Great people the Island is proud of all who do this out of kindness.
Very brave people dedicating their time and risking life for others. Full respect
What great people these are. Hope they have a wonderful Christmas
