Voi – the new provider of e-scooters and e-bikes across the Solent Transport region – has arrived on the Isle of Wight this week. After almost 4 years, Beryl’s contract has come to an end following an open tender process, as previously reported by Island Echo. As a result, its teal-coloured scooters and bikes have been removed from the Island’s streets. Now, a new provider has been parachuted in to continue where Beryl left off. Voi has officially arrived on the Isle of Wight with its red-coloured e-scooters and e-bikes now available for hire. It’s said that the move to a single area-wide operator will ensure the long-term financial sustainability of these transport options across south Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. All Beryl parking bays have transferred over to Voi and will soon be rebranded. In 2025, Voi plans to upgrade its e-scooter fleet, introducing its latest model which offers improvements in durability and efficiency. The scooters will feature a mobile phone holder and a wireless charging pad. It was only 2 months ago the Isle of Wight Council extended the Island’s participation in the e-scooter trial. The Department for Transport-backed trial was meant to end in October 2021 but was extended to March 2022, then to November 2022 and again to 31st May this year. It has now been extended once more to May 2026. All e-scooters and e-bikes are available to hire through Breeze.

We need the Rag and Bone man to return to our streets,
he could round these up and have them scrapped for
Metal value.
They are an Health and Safety issue, people leave them
dumped on Pavements making it UNSAFE for pedestrians,
disabled persons and persons pushing prams
Scrap them
English translation please
So green that thousands of Beryl ones are now heading for land fill etc.
Relocation to other contracts.not landfill
They’ll probably actually be sent to another location on the mainland. Many of these Voi bikes and scooters look like they’ve been used elsewhere already.
This was supposed to be a trial. Seems like someone has decided it’s now a permanent facility – i don’t remember being asked.
Can’t wait for them to be made legal- with helmet/insurance and license.
This is all part of the world plan to get vehicles off the road.
Cycles and Scooters are part of the New World Order.
People won’t have a choice, all part of the Elites climate lies.
The Elite will still fly and own vehicles
I love a good conspiracy theory!
“The scooters will feature a mobile phone holder and a wireless charging pad.”
What f wit thinks a mobile phone holder is a good idea? So the idiots can put their phone in the holder and watch a movie/chat to friends on FB and BANG they’re dead.
it’s for when using as a ‘satnav’ not too difficult to understand
Another brilliant idea….not !!!
Voi are way more expensive compared to Beryl scooters, hopefully they will be more reliable than beryl as most were faulty and ridden by kids who aren’t supposed to be using them in the first place
‘The scooters will feature a mobile phone holder’
Well, that has to be one of the stupidest idea I’ve heard for a while.
Actually encouraging riders to use their phones whilst riding on the roads.
Spotted the first one this afternoon approx 16-30pm Number 74ZU going flat out along Princes Esplanade,Gurnard, and yes you guessed correctly it was on the pavement!
