Ventnor teenager Archie Lucy has been honoured with a prestigious cricket award after a standout debut season in the Southern Premier League.
The seam bowler collected the accolade, sponsored by the Mike Vimpany Cricket Website, in recognition of his outstanding August performances in Division 1.
Lucy took 15 wickets across the month, finishing his first full SPL campaign with 23 victims in total. His breakthrough spell came with career-best figures of 6-24 against Fair Oak, followed swiftly by another match-winning 5-24 at Hambledon just a week later.
Those displays underlined the teenager’s progress and growing reputation as one of the Island’s brightest young cricketing talents. Ventnor’s coaching staff have praised his commitment and development, with the club confident that Archie has the potential to play an increasingly important role in the seasons ahead.
The award capped a strong season for Ventnor, who finished 2nd in Division 1.
