Ventnor Rugby Club member Jac Stemmet will be running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours, starting at 17:00 today (Thursday, 31st March).
Jac’s aim is to raise money for the people of Ukraine. Any sponsorship he receives will be donated to Isle of Wight charity MAD Aid (Medical Aid Delivered), based in East Cowes, which sends much needed items to Ukrainian refugees in Ukraine and Moldova.
Running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours is known as the Goggins Challenge. The challenge has been named after American ultramarathon runner and former Navy SEAL David Goggins, who thought up the endurance event.
Jac has said:

“I’ve played rugby for Ventnor Rugby Club for the last 10 years. I started running in November 2020 as there was no rugby that season due to covid lockdowns. After learning about the Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge last summer, I knew I wanted to give it a go at some point. It’s both a mental and physical challenge. When the war in Ukraine happened, I felt driven to do something to help, so this was the logical answer.”
Anyone wishing to join Jac on his Goggins Challenge may do so at the following times:
- Thursday, (31st March) 17:00, 21:00
- Friday, (1st April) 01:00, 05:00, 09:00, 13:00, 17:00, 21:00
- Saturday, (2nd April) 01:00, 05:00, 09:00, 13:00
