Dan Cox scored 101 off 59 balls as Ventnor were vanquished by Hampshire CCC in a Twenty20 game at Steephill on Wednesday (4th June).
Hampshire won the toss and were put in to bat, with Basey top scoring for the county side with 50 off 34 balls before being caught by Attrill off the bowling of Lucy. Captain Kelly made an unbeaten 49 off 23 balls (including 5 sixes), with his side racing to a total of 206/6.
Archie Lucy (2-18) was the pick of the bowlers for the South Wight side, with Dineth Thimodya, Thomas Southcott, Ethan Short and Charlie Calloway all taking a wicket apiece.
Ventnor reached 202 in reply for the loss of 4 wickets. Batting at No 3, Dan Cox top scored with an unbeaten 101, which included 13 fours and 4 sixes. He was supported by Henry Edwards (32) and Ben Attrill (22), with openers Dineth Thimodya contributing 15 runs and captain Ben Woodhouse 9.

DEFEAT FOR VENTNOR 1STS AT TOTTON & ELING
A 600 run fest between Totton & Eling and Ventnor ended in a 30 run win for the New Forest side in Saturday’s Southern Premier League Division 1 clash.
After Dan Cox and George Watts had made early in-roads, the home team’s innings was transformed by a 180 run partnership for the 4th wicket between Alvin Ditole who hit a fine 111 and Jimmy Taylor (74).
Dineth Thimodya (2-45) dismissed both before the hosts added more quick runs to post a formidable 318-6 from 50 overs.
Sri Lankan Thimodya led the visitor’s response but when he was dismissed 2 short of a fine hundred, much rested with the lower order. Skipper Ben Woodhouse kept his side in contention by blasting a superb 80 from just 59 deliveries with 9 fours and sixes, but when he fell leg before at 277-7, the Islanders 3 remaining wickets fell for the addition of only 11 runs.

BLACKMAN IN THE RUNS AGAIN AS VENTNOR 2NDS WIN
Martin Blackman took his total number of runs in the opening five Hampshire League games to 375 as Ventnor defeated Winton by seven wickets at Steephill on Saturday.
The Dorset side batted first and set the hosts 222 to win with New South Wales pace bowler Ethan Short taking 3-27, Charlie Calloway (2-42), Jack Powell (2-50) and Ollie Morgan (2-34).
In reply, tight opening spells from the visitors’ attack restricted the Ventnor scoring before Kevin Cooper joined Martin Blackman. The right hander thumped 7 fours and 2 sixes in a splendid innings of 58 and when he departed, the prolific Blackman continued to an untroubled, impressive 86 not out. He shared a 4th wicket partnership of 56 with Toby Noyes (32 not out) to win the match with 2 overs to spare.

MCQUILLAN HALF CENTURY IN FINE WIN FOR VENTNOR 3RD TEAM
Ventnor’s 3rd eleven clinched a fine 2-wicket win over Newport’s 1st team in Island League Division 1 at Newclose.
Grant Richardson top scored with 43 in the hosts’ total of 168 with leg spinner Sean Turner (3-31), James Curtis (3-18) and Rafe Hawkins (2-13) the pick of the Ventnor attack.
Ellis Hinkley (3-14) had the visitors in trouble and seemingly out of the contest on 67-5, before skipper Turner struck a run a ball 46. When he was dismissed at 119-6, it was young Harrison McQuillan with an exceptional knock of 57 not out with 6 boundaries who won the match for his side with just 1 ball remaining.

VENTNOR HURRICANES REACH REGIONAL FINAL
Ventnor’s Hurricanes are through to the regional final of the ECB Under 15 National Club Championship after an excellent 7 wicket win over Ryde in the Isle of Wight final at Newclose.
Harry Webb with 47 not out top scored for Ryde in their total of 133-2 with Isaac and Monty Borman each taking a wicket for Jess Glover’s side.
The Ventnor reply was led by opener Tom Noyes. The right hander hit 9 fours in a splendid unbeaten 50 from just 32 balls and with Liam Goldsmith impressing with 35 including 5 boundaries, the pair saw their team home in convincing fashion with 5 overs to spare.
