UPDATED: A 4×4 vehicle has been recovered from College Close in Sandown by Police after officers responded to the area earlier this afternoon (Tuesday).
5 Police vehicles arrived at the scene off Avenue Road shortly before 16:00, where officers then entered a residential address wearing blue gloves.
A blue Toyota Land Cruiser has been removed from outside the property by Bartletts Service Station, however Police remain at College Close – including a detective from Newport CID.
It is said the vehicle and its occupants returned home around 14:30.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on the incident.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY @ 12:28 – It has been confirmed to Island Echo that a man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of burglary. He was questioned at Newport Police Station yesterday evening but has since been released without charge.
The vehicle was recovered was part of the investigation, but has yet to be returned.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY @ 15:34 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that yesterday’s arrest and vehicle seizure was part of the force’s enquiries into to a burglary at the Wight Montrene Hotel in Sandown on Monday evening.
The 66-year-old man arrested on suspicion of being involved in the incident has been released, but remains under investigation.
