FOUND: A van owner has been left angered after his vehicle was stolen from outside his home in Newport last night (Tuesday).
The grey Fiat Doblo (registration mark HW57 HFF) was taken from outside a residential address on Drake Road at sometime between 23:45 and 00:45. The van had only been parked up at 23:30.
Police have said it could take up to 11 days to access CCTV in the surrounding area. In the meantime they have suggested the victim conducts door to door enquiries.
Anyone with information about the theft and anyone who sees the vehicle should contact Police on 101, quoting 44170164333. Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
UPDATE @ 10:37 – The vehicle has been successfully located on Cross Street in Sandown, much to the owner’s relief.
An eagle-eyed Island Echo reader spotted our appeal for information and within 12 minutes the Fiat’s rightful owner had been informed of its whereabouts.
It is thought the vehicle may have been involved in another crime overnight.
Police are in attendance at the scene and the vehicle is being recovered for forensic examination.
