UPDATED WITH VIDEO: Firefighters have been called to Tesco Filling Station in Ryde this evening (Tuesday) due to a fuel leak from a van.
One appliance from the nearby Ryde Fire Station was called to the scene on Brading Road at around 17:30 after an Iveco Daily van leaked a considerable amount of diesel onto the filling station forecourt, creating a fire hazard.
Tesco employees and firefighters have used sand to soak up the fuel and are currently safely removing the contaminated sand.
The station has been temporarily closed to motorists, however Tesco store remains open as normal.
Meanwhile, firefighters from Newport have attended a small oven fire at a property on Fairlee Road, Newport. The fire was out on arrival.
One appliance from East Cowes were called to Hawthorn Meadows to an out of control bonfire.
UPDATED: Tesco Filling Station has reopened.
