A 40-year-old Bembridge man has been charged with drink driving after crashing his van into a ditch on his way home yesterday evening (Monday).
Police were called to the B3395 Sandown Road at 18:04 to reports of a single vehicle collision.
Officers arrived on scene to discover a white VW T4 van had left the road and come to rest deep in a ditch near the entrance to Culver Down.
Jonathan Weaver, of Sandown Road, Bembridge, was arrested and has since been charged with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above the limit.
He will appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 25th February.

Until there is a STRONG DETERRANT drink and drug driving will continue. First, jail them, secondly a heavy fine and finally, crush their vehicle. If they cannot afford to pay the fine, send in the bailiff’s to recover the cost.
