UPDATED: Firefighters from Sandown are tackling a van fire this evening (Monday).
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to the High Street near to the junction with St John’s Road in the town at just before 18:00.
A single crew are using a hose reel to extinguish the small fire, which has broke out in the rear a white Ford Transit. The fire has been caused by a portable BBQ.
No one has been injured.
The High Street is currently blocked with traffic being diverted locally.
UPDATE @ 18:20 – The fire has been contained and extinguished, preventing the total loss of the vehicle.
The one appliance from Sandown has now left the scene and the High Street has fully reopened.
