UPDATED: A van and a car have collided at Shide this lunchtime (Tuesday), leading to traffic delays in the area.
One fire appliance from Newport, Police and paramedics are attending the incident at the junction of St George’s Way and Medina Avenue, where a Renault Clio has been involved in a collision with an Iveco scaffolding van.
The road remains open outbound, however traffic heading into Newport from Arreton is being diverted via Medina Avenue whilst emergency crews deal with the incident.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance due to a fuel spillage.
No one has been seriously injured or trapped in the crash, although a paramedic is on scene assessing those involved.
Minors delays are being experienced in the area.
UPDATE @ 12:25 – Firefighters and paramedics have now left the scene, however Police remain directing traffic and arranging recovery of the vehicles involved.
The white Iveco van has been moved off the carriageway to allow traffic to flow easier, resuming normal two-way traffic on St George’s Way.
Island Roads have been requested to attend the incident to clear the spillage and any debris from the carriageway.
UPDATE @ 13:55 – The scene has now been cleared and traffic is flowing in both directions.
