A last-minute but urgent weather warning has been issued for the Isle of Wight, as forecasters expect up to 20mm of rainfall over the next few hours.
IW Met Service has issued a yellow weather warning for the Island, valid until 17:00 this afternoon (Friday).
Heavy, slow moving showers have developed over western parts of the Island already and will continue to evolve and move slowly over the next few hours.
It’s said that 15-20mm of rain may well fall in some locations in a short space of time, whereas other parts may see little in the way of rainfall.
Currently, the heaviest rainfall is out West Wight, although it is uncertain how much further east this will move over the coming hours.

If, and it is a big If, the authorities actually engaged their brains the flooding at Morton Common could be stopped by simply partial opening of the flood gate where the Yar empties into Bembridge harbour on the embankment road, i suppose that is too difficult for them to get their heads around it.
