VIDEO: Locals and tourists alike couldn’t quite believe what they were seeing when an unusual visitor paid a visit to Ventnor seafront this afternoon (Wednesday).
In a rare occurrence for the Island, a seal landed on the beach in front of onlookers for a short period making its way up the sand and shingle for a look around.
Although the stay was only short, crowds gathered in the area to watch the fairly large mammal minding its own business, before it made its way back into the sea and swam away.
The seal, which are sometimes spotted off of the Island’s coastline, didn’t appear to be injured and was said to be friendly.
