Vectis Rugby Club enjoyed a fantastic day at the New Milton Rugby Festival on Sunday (5th October), with the Under 12s lifting their first silverware of the season.
The Vectis Under 12s were crowned joint cup winners after topping their group with an impressive record – scoring 14 tries and conceding none.
In a thrilling final against a powerful Bournemouth side, Vectis showed great determination, coming back from a try down to secure a draw and share the trophy. Every player contributed to the success, showcasing teamwork, skill and spirit throughout the day.
The Under 10s also impressed, winning all of their matches before being narrowly stopped by a very strong Bournemouth RFC team.
For the Under 9s, this was their first experience of contact rugby – and they rose to the challenge brilliantly, remaining undefeated with three wins and a draw. More importantly, they demonstrated excellent progress and enthusiasm for the game.
The Under 8s enjoyed their first festival outing of the season, showing fantastic passing, great running and superb teamwork throughout their matches.
Meanwhile, the Under 7s proudly took part in their first ever tournament, performing brilliantly and demonstrating the promising future of Vectis Rugby Club’s youngest players.
Club Chairman Allan Bridges said:
“It was absolutely brilliant to see such great performances from all the Vectis teams. The players, coaches and parents should all be very proud – it was a great day out for the Minis and the Under 12s.”
Vectis Minis and Under 12s train every Sunday at Isle of Wight RFC in Wootton, and new players are always welcome.
