TWO MORE JOLLY RANCHER PRODUCTS ADDED TO MAJOR FOOD SAFETY ALERT

A food safety alert has been reissued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) concerning several Jolly Rancher products now confirmed to be unsafe for consumption due to the presence of Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH).

Those importing the affected Jolly Rancher products are being told to stop importation and distribution, while any businesses currently selling the items are advised to withdraw them from sale and initiate a full product recall if sales have already taken place.

An initial alert was first issued back in June, since then Jolly Rancher Filled Pops and Jolly Rancher Freeze Dried Candy have been added to the update.

The Hershey Company, brand owner of Jolly Rancher, has removed the products from the UK market and has confirmed it no longer supplies them in the country. Despite this, other suppliers have continued to import and distribute the products, prompting the FSA to request that enforcement authorities across the UK act to protect public health.

Although the FSA says the immediate food safety risk is low and there is no cause for alarm among consumers who have already eaten the products, they warn that MOAH can pose a long-term safety risk if consumed regularly.

The FSA continues to monitor the situation and work with enforcement bodies to ensure affected products are removed from sale.
