UPDATED: Emergency services are currently attending a two car collision on Military Road at Compton.
Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service from both Newport and Freshwater are on the scene near to Hanover Point, alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
It is understood the collision occurred shortly before 14:20 this afternoon (Sunday).
Police have now arrived at the scene.
UPDATE @ 15:08 – Firefighters have cut free at least one person from the wreckage of the collision, which is understood to have involved a Citroen and a Mazda. Both vehicles are said to have partially left the carriageway.
The road remains open, however motorists are advised to take care when passing.
UPDATE @ 17:10 – One male has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport after being cut free by firefighters.
UPDATE MONDAY – A spokesperson for St Mary’s Hospital has this morning confirmed that the gentleman was seen by doctors at St Mary’s Hospital, but has since been discharged.
