Yet another ice warning has been issued for the Isle of Wight with freezing temperatures expected during the early hours of tomorrow morning (Wednesday), potentially creating treacherous conditions on roads and footpaths.
IW Met Service is warning of a high risk of black ice forming as temperatures plunge to 0c across many rural parts of the Isle of Wight overnight.
Rainfall from today is expected to freeze overnight, leaving a hidden danger on untreated surfaces.
The alert is active from 03:00 until 11:00 tomorrow.
Motorists are being urged to drive with extreme caution, with the risk of near-invisible ice catching drivers off guard – especially in areas affected by field run-off. The warning highlights the possibility of dangerous skids and sudden loss of control on minor and rural roads.
Pedestrians are also at risk, with slippery pavements and footpaths expected across the Isle of Wight by dawn. Even areas not affected by ice could see a widespread frost, coating cars and grass in a sharp chill.

Ok don’t panic it’s winter..
Tell that to the Numpty speeding motorists
seems strange that the Met Office are predicting a minimum of +5C…
Remember what Michael Fish said in 1987
Metreologists are not always right.
Lol
“Remember what Michael Fish said in 1987″… I certainly do..
my other favourite TV weather presenter moment (can’t remember who it was now) was when they used to use magnetic symbols on a chart, … & the presenter put large, individual F O G letters, across the south of England,.. & the letter F fell off…
at the end of the piece he quipped “Sorry about the Fin Fog”…
Laugh?! We nearly shat!
We had not laughed so much since Grandma died
Or Auntie Mabel caught her left tit in the mangle…
Trevor Baker ?
That’s a good one.
Looks like as usual!!they were wrong you don’t get a frost or ice at +5.
Black Ice doesn’t slow motorists down!!
Islandwide fitted speed cameras that produce
HEAVY fines slows motorists down
FACT!
20mph is plenty, tell that to the speeding numpties
I wonder how many rolls or single vehicle collisions
there will be tomorrow.
You cannot educate numpties
SLOW DOWN F.F.S
If you want to speed book a Brands Hatch dayout
Safer for everyone
Zzzzzzzz
Don’t be a Numpty all your life.
Bless you
It’s a bad time to have to detour over the downs to get from Ryde to Newport…
It is the way numpties speed.
I passed a Numpty today in Sandown under the
railway bridge going like a nutter towards Brading.
Sometimes there is a plod van along this Road, sadly they
were not there today.
I read today that Kenny Dalglish got fined £1,000.00
and 3 points on his licence for driving at 30mph in a
20mph zone in Little Crosby, Merseyside.
On the island vehicles do 70mph in 30 or 40 zones
and nothing gets done about it!
The island needs Merseyside rules.
