A trailer that overturned on the main road between Newport and Yarmouth earlier this afternoon (Thursday) has been righted, thanks to the efforts of the farming community. The A3054 Yarmouth Road became blocked in both directions when a trailer carrying a large amount of grass overturned, spilling its load across the carriageway – the tractor towing it managed to stay on all 4 wheels. The crash occurred shortly before 13:30 near to Three Gates Farm. However, the road has already been cleared and is once again open in both directions thanks to the swift actions of local farmers. JCBs have been used to right the trailer, with the load swept up. Police arrived on scene around 50 minutes after the crash happened, by which time the incident was already over with no further obstruction.
