Tom Johnson – of Havenstreet A – has won the Island Echo Handicapped singles title in a hard-fought final at Smallbrook.
Tom beat his opponent Alex Rorke – of Ryde B – in 5 sets: 11-9, 11-8, 7-11, 4-11, 8-11.
Johnson had a +4 handicap advantage.
Alex won the first 2 sets by a tight margin, but from the 3rd set, Tom attacked more and came back into the game strongly.
Tom managed to overcome Alex’s style and got progressively better as the game came towards its conclusion.
The 5th and final set was very tight, with Rorke overcoming his handicap advantage.
However, Tom Johnson finished strongly, taking the final 3 points to win the match and the Island Echo Handicapped Singles Title for 2025.
