Lawrence Fo - Havenstreet A - Division 2

With only 2 fixtures played in Division One last week, and with most teams only having one match left to play, Ryde A made short work of second-placed Shanklin Sharks with a surprising 10-0 victory in their second meeting of the season.

Although Shanklin comprised of 3 top quality players in Don Hobbs, Tom Johnson and Mike Bulpitt, they had no answers against Ryde’s Alex Rorke and Scott Lawson who are in a league of their own. Ryde’s Glenn Morley had to fight harder for his victories but overcame his opponents in some tight matches.

Division 2 is looking tighter at the top lately, although Newport Vics C still lead by 13 points over Havenstreet Locos and Freshwater A, who tie for second place at present.

Freshwater scored an unexpected 10-0 victory over experienced Ryde Red Kites, with Lawrence Fo player of the match.

Newport Vics met Havenstreet Locos, who were a player short, but this was still a close match and game of the night was between Dave Newnham and Ian Loosemore, which Newnham won in the fifth set.  The match finished 6-4 to Vics.

 Division 3

St Lawrence Lizards took the top spot back from Ryde Revellers after an 8-2 victory over Ryde Regals, whilst the Revellers could only manage a draw against fellow Ryde team, the Rockets, who’s Anna Garrioch was in fine form, winning all her games and taking the doubles with team mate Paul Tucker.
