Division 1’s match of the week was between 2 Ryde teams – Ryde Raiders and Ryde Royals. This was a long match between 2 closely matched quality teams, with many games going to the final set.

The Royals’ Hugh Idle continued his fine form winning all his matches, but was pushed to the wire by the Raiders’ Martin Johnstone. The Royals’ Ricky Lock played his heart out to take both higher-ranked Rob Smith and Tim Giles to the final set but ultimately the Raiders players edged both games.

The Raiders’ Smith lost out in another 5-setter to Conal Howells. With the match at 5-4 to the Raiders going into the doubles, the Royals’ Idle and Lock took the game with ease and the match ended in a draw.
