Police investigating a serious assault that took place on Sea Street in Newport last month have arrested a third man.
The latest suspect to be detained is a 24-year-old man from Ryde, who was arrested at the end of May on suspicion of assault and affray.
This follows the arrest of 2 other men – a 33-year-old from Newport and a 26-year-old from Bristol – who were detained at Wellesley Way, Newport on 19th May on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.
The pair have since been bailed until August for the lesser offence of assault and affray.
The third suspect has also been bailed until August.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says the investigation remains active and that officers continue to pursue lines of enquiry.
