Work to upgrade Red Funnel’s ferry maintenance facilities in Southampton mean that ferries will be berthing at an alternative location for 6 days in November.
The cross-Solent operator has announced that as part of a £2million investment works will be taking place at Southampton Terminal 1 between Tuesday 2nd and Thursday 4th November – and again from Tuesday 23rd to Thursday 25th November.
Over this period, ferries will need to operate out of a temporary berth, Berth 25, which is located 1 mile away from the usual terminal near West Quay.
Drivers are being advised to travel directly to Berth 25 during the works.
Foot passengers are being offered the option of travelling via the Red Jet at no extra cost, or to take the free shuttle bus from Berth 25 to the main Red Funnel terminal. For those arriving in Southampton from the Island, the shuttle bus should be used to exit the area with arrangements to meet any party at the main Red Funnel terminal.
In addition to the berthing changes in November, it has also been announced that there will be no access to the foot passenger gangway in Southampton between 2nd and 25th November. This means that foot passengers will board and disembark the ferry via the main vehicle ramp, taking the lift or stairs to the passenger accommodation.
Red Funnel says it does not anticipate any disruption to its vehicle ferry service and timetable. Passengers booked to travel will receive further, more detailed information.
