Passengers travelling via Wightlink’s Yarmouth port will face temporary changes to boarding arrangements from Monday (3rd November) as essential works get underway.
From 3rd to 12th November, all passengers – including those travelling by vehicle or on foot – will board and disembark using a temporary barge positioned on the slipway next to the usual linkspan.
Wightlink has confirmed that the temporary setup is required to allow engineering teams to safely replace the linkspan wires – a regulatory requirement to ensure the berth remains safe and fully operational. A revised timetable will also be in effect during this period.
The works have been scheduled for early November to take advantage of favourable tidal conditions and to reduce the risk of disruption from winter weather. The timing has also been selected to minimise inconvenience to customers.
All affected passengers will be contacted directly, and further updates will be shared via Wightlink’s service WhatsApp channel.
Full details of the temporary timetable can be found at www.wightlink.co.uk/updates, and information about the Yarmouth works is available at www.wightlink.co.uk/plan-your-journey/service-status/yarmouth-works.
