A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Wootton yesterday lunchtime (Monday) after allegedly being seen carrying a knife on board a bus.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary deployed a number of officers to the High Street area following reports that a male had been spotted carrying a bladed article.
The teen was sighted on board a Southenr Vectis bus but alighted in Wootton, heading off on foot in the direction of Church Road.
A search of the area led to the arrest of a 17-year-old from Ryde in nearby Church Close. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife/sharply pointed object in a public place.
He has since been released under investigation.
