A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs after he rolled his van onto its roof in Ryde late last night (Saturday).
It was at around 22:00 that emergency services were called to St John’s Road, at the junction with High Street, after a Renault Clio van came to rest upside down, as first reported by Island Echo.
Those first on scene were left scratching their heads as to how the single vehicle incident occurred. Indications are that the vehicle, allegedly travelling at speed, took the right hand turn into Green Street and clipped a kerb on the inside.
The driver was assisted from the vehicle by firefighters from Ryde and passed into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 19-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs.
He has been released under investigation.
Any one driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
need locking up – no excuses
The law is too tame, these morons could kill innocent
