18-year-old Scott Parker has been handed a suspended prison sentence following an incident in Whitepit Lane in Newport, during which he brandished 2 kitchen knives and became abusive to locals.
Police were called to Whitepit Lane at 21:52 on the evening of 14th March this year, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The court heard that a brick had been thrown through the window of Parker’s grandmother’s house. In response, Scott ran out of the address armed with 2 knives to confront the person who had thrown the brick.
He then became aggressive towards 2 neighbours.
Defending, Oscar Vincent said his client suffered from ADHD and had not planned the ‘inappropriate’ response.
Appearing before the Isle of Wight Crown Court, Scott Parker admitted possession of a knife in a public place as well as 2 counts of using threatening or abusive words to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
He was given an 8 month custodial sentence – suspended for 2 years. He must also complete 100 hours of unpaid work and 25 rehabilitation days.
